Thank you Laurel Police Department for being so informed and active in your training and interactions with those on the Autism Spectrum. In today’s climate of fear of differences and one’s safety, knowing that the differences in how those on the Autism Spectrum may respond as well as how to recognize someone on the Autism Spectrum, is crucial for everyone’s safety. We commend the Laurel Police Chief for making it a priority of his department and the entire department for actively involving themselves in getting to know their community. Awareness, and familiarity with those on the spectrum in your community can make everyone more comfortable, less anxious and safer.
